Sarah Rhodes Hawkins (1870-1951) with two of her children, Ila Bethel Hawkins (1909-1996) and Herman Hawkins. The house is located on Church Street in Eden, North Carolina (Spray, NC at the time of the photograph), and remains standing today. (Information provided by Nellie Shelton Carter)
 4- This photo was made at a Sunday family gathering around 1924 at the home place on Church Street in Spray, NC (currently Eden, NC in Rockingham County) after a large family dinner. Pictured (front row, left to right ) are: Lessie Eggleston, Robert Obediah Hawkins (1865-1935), Edison Hall (d.2001), Sarah Rhodes Hawkins (1870-1951), and the children of Mamie and Obediah Hawkins. Pictured also (back row, left to right) are: Maggie Eggleston, Herman Hawkins, Anna Robertson (a friend of the family), Hester Hall, Tom Hall (holding his daughter Evelyn, Ila Bethel Hawkins (1909-1996), Eva Hawkins, Crawford Hawkins (holding one of his children), Mamie and Obediah Hawkins. 5- Daisy Mae Carter Cook (1908-2005), daughter of Ida Sue Crews Carter (1875-1959) and Winston Marshall Carter (1868-1962), as photographed on September 3, 2002. Daisy remembered William Anderson Carter (1836-1917) as "Grandpa Billy" and recalled him having a long white beard in his old age.
